You've reached Dorian Gray. Isn't progress grand?

This is very peculiar.

You would expect that...

[There is a pause here]

...you would expect that...

[And another pause]

Blast, I've forgotten the word.

Ah!

You would expect that the habit would not be as engrossing as...

[There is music in the background suddenly. It's jazzy]

This music is-

Barkeep! Another!

[ooc: Action for anyone at the Blue Light. Dorian is a little drunk]

As entertaining as that was, I certainly doubt that having someone almost manage to kill you is far more thrilling when it happens in the penny dreadfuls than when it proposes to happen in real life. I never imagined that actually going to the Palace would become a life-or-death mission.

Funny how each time...

And so after that, is anyone willing to celebrate? Celebrate life, celebrate not being hospitalized, celebrate the fact that it's a Tuesday and we're not being attacked by killer sheep?

I'm simply not in the mood to sit at home and dwell on this.

This place has an odd preoccupation with sheep that I don't think I'm entirely comfortable with. I'm almost sure that even in Northumberland or Scotland they're not quite this obsessed with the animals.

They certainly don't grow from plants, at any rate. This can't be another curse. It's rather benign for one, isn't it? Sheep growing from plants?

[Private to Susan Pevensie;]

Susan, how old are you again? Remind me.

I wonder what it is about today that's making everything seem so easy. Perhaps I'll take a moment and go out while there is daylight and see the sights of the City. It's too bad that around here society is strictly a thing of the past; the kind of party that I'm in the mood for would do well in London.

Would anyone care to keep me company?

[ooc; cursed, cursed, cursed!]

Grandfather?

Grandfather, I didn't mean to get lost. I don't even know whose house this is. Please, can you hear me?

[Silence, then very quietly]

Please don't be angry, please don't be angry, please don't be angry, please don't be angry...

[This continues for a couple of minutes more, and then the transmission cuts out]

What an odd curse. I couldn't determine if it was attractiveness that people seemed to be drawn to or intelligence or...other qualities. That and most of you sounded like society gossips, although then there would be someone, doubtless, muttering about the quality of youth and the corrupt moral values of the time.

Let's all be thankful that wasn't a part of this curse.

[Private to Caspian]

Caspain, I was hoping that we could speak, at some point, if you have the time.

This is certainly much more exciting than I could have imagined. Last time this came about I was only here for a small time, and I wasn't used to it yet.

But this time I'm a little more ready for it. If you're going to insist on touching me in the street, could you make sure you don't have any dirt on your hands?

Basil, I'm joking, naturally. Would you like a tour of the City?

[ooc; anything is fine, really!]

Living in this City is not as bad as some would claim. After all, some lucky people are poised to get married, those who would never have met had they not arrived in this place. And is there anything good that cannot be said about such a happy and joyous event? Matrimony is truly a gift that should be appreciated.

Except that it is, truly, the beginning of the end. Wotton was wrong, on that case. He is going to be a father, and for him that would end the world, but it is marriage that is the root, not children.

Perhaps, as the best man, I should simply count myself fortunate to be able to enjoy the affair. I'm not losing my best friend, after all.

I'm sure everyone is enjoying their weekend.

I certainly am.

[ooc: action if you're in the Square or shopping, yes?]
